Iowa. It definately not like alot of states. All one may see is corn and farms, here are a few other great places and things to do in Iowa:

1.ICE CREAM CAPITAL OF THE WORLD-LeMars,Ia! Thats right, folks. For all those ice cream icecreamlovers, come to Lemars fpr a scoop of your favorite flavor!! You will find some of the best ice cream here than any other place; hence LeMars is known as the ice cream capital of the world :D If you don’t believe me, come see for yourself!!

2.Tubing down the river- Yes, this may sound a little strange, but believe me this is a popular thing for teenagers to do in the summer.  Many of these teenagers will pack up some innertubes in their pickups and off to the river they go! This definately is great entertainment for summer!!

3. Farmers will create trails in their fields for people to come down and go through. The people than have to find different checkpoints. After we get through all the checkpoints, they need to find their way out to get a sweet treat. This wonderful creation is known as a cornmaze. There is a very popular one located outside of Orange City, IA and it is known as PumpkinLand.

4. Cruising- Although this is not as popular, cruising down main street is still something teenagers do during the summer. It is a fun way to entertain ourselves and to meet new people.  Along with the people, there are alot of sweet cars and

So I’m sure alot of people think one dog is alot of work. While if someone would ever visit my farm, they would find 7 dogs, a few cats, 4 horses, 4 rabbits, and 2 calves. I am going to take a few minutes to tell you all about the pets on my farm!

We have seven dogs: Maggie,Derbi,Sophie,Bailey,Bingo,Shelby,Max. Maggie and Derbi are Elkhounds. Derbi is actually one of the puppies that survived Maggie’s first litter. Derbi is a year; she belongs to my brother, Blake. Maggie is three and if you have read my other blog, she belongs to me!  I would have to say that Maggie is the dominante one on the yard, unless Max is around. The next dog in the barn is Sophie. Sophie is a 1 year old Red Lab and belongs to my little sister,Shayna. Sophie is definatly the dog that likes to be on her own,. She is very shy and will only come around if the others are there. The next two dogs will be the Beagles. They are 2 years old and belong to Sarah, my other sister. I would have to we never worry about where those two littel dogs are around. Their bark is definatly noticeable. Shelby is next! She is a Springer Spaniel, and she use to belong to Dolan, but Sarah bought her. She is the dog who will always be by our doorstep. She is kind of a stubborn little thing, but can be the nicest one on the yard. Max, our farm dog, has been around for 9 years. He is a German Shepherd/Collie and has been around forever. There really arent words to describe Max!

Besides for the dogs, we have our 4-H animals: Jasper and Blackjack(our 2 calves) and the 4 bunnies. There are not alot of words to describe them. They are just around for our fair projects. Jasper and Blackjack are the calves. They belong to me and Blake, even though Blake does alot more with them ;) The rabbits are raised and shown by Sarah and Blake.

Last on the list would be the horses: Hershey, Annie,  Blaze, Reins. The horses were bought by my Grandpa for the grandkids. We really do not do much with them even more, but that may be because its winter. The horses are very special to me though because it is something my grandpa and I have in common!

That about it on the farm. I really do not do alot with the animals, besides for the dogs. All my animals, though, are very important to me and have helped me and my siblings learn great responsibilities!

My blog, for instance, is filled with a lot of different information about me and my life.  It is definatly random, filled with all kinds of useful information ( that definatly is for you to decide though!) It does not have a lot of interesting things on it though, I guess if you like looking at pictures!!  For my next post, well that is a surprise! You will have to stay tune!! As you all know, last Saturday we played basketball against Unity for sub state. My friends and I left for Orange City at 5:15 from the little white church (on highway 75). We got to MOC-FV at 5:45 and had to get in line. The line was crazy, it was all the way down to the street on both sides of the school. We get in line and decide right than and there that we need to be closer, so we call up Megan’s parents. Of course, they told us to come up by them and that that would be no problem. As we all sit there freezing, it finally turned 6:00 and we got to go in the gym. Western and Unity people came tumbling from both sides. It was quite easy to spot the Western student body, they were all dressed in black!! The game finally started at 7:00 and went till about 8:30. Western defeated Unity 61-45. After the game, the girls and I went to Culver’s for ice cream!! It was kinda sad seeing we had to play Unity to get to state, but I am also excited because the seniors have been to state basketball all four years of their high school years!! Its definitely a great way to end the weekend and regular season basketball.BBALL

So I decided last week that my car has the worst luck in the world. On Monday, Feb.22, I was bring my sister to violin lessons at Dordt. I was at a stop sign and there was snow on the corner of the street. I decided to pull out a little to see if I could go, sure enough it was clear. As I was going, I looked the other way and there was a blue van coming at me. The van did try to swerve to miss me, but I ended up hitting her in the side. My front half of my bumper flew off and the headlight got shattered. So after having my license back for a little over a month, i might be without them again :(

After being involved with that accident on Monday, I come out to my car on Saturday after work. There is a note slide between the window and the door. I grab for the note and it reads ” Sorry I hit your car on the left side, the headlight is broken. Here is my info….” Surprised, I go to look to see if this has actually happened and sure enough there is glass and a broken headlight.

I decided that my car is trying to tell me and my parents that it is time for a new one, but the car keeps running so we will have to see what is going to happen to it next!!

So I just took Tina’s quiz and got 20 out of 25. I guess this is the second time I tried this quiz!! The first time I tried I got 13 out of 25. So I must not be very observant. The questions are actually very simple, but I think that since they are so easy, its hard. To try this great quiz go to

Optical illusions often mess with one’s brain. The one I like the best is the spinning dancer. This dancer will be spinning in a certain direction. One person may see her spinning clockwise, often showing that that person is left-brained. If a person can get the dancer spinning counterclockwise, they are noted for being right-brained. When a person can get the spinner to go both ways, they are equally dominate with both sides of their brain.

What way can you make the Spinning dancer go?? Go to this link and see for yourself! Feel free to leave a comment after you try this out!!

Besides for family and friends, I would have to say that Maggie, my dog, is the next important thing in my life.  She is very special to me because she is my very own dog that i bought with my own money!! This may sound very strange, but I think she even knows I am her owner. She, out of the other 6 dogs on our yard, is always the first one to know when I am home. I would have to say the first thing I usually do when I get home is go and find my pooch! She can always put a smile on my face!!

I suppose you are probably wondering a little more about her. As I said before, she is my dog. Maggie is a3 1/2 year old Norwegian Elkhound. These kinds of dogs look sorta like miniature wolves. She is just above my knee and is a gray/black color. Maggie was born on Oct 11 ,2006, and I got to bring her home from the Van Maanens on Dec 8, 2006! Her personality is normally calm-mannered, unless she and our other dog, Shelby, get to close to each other. Maggie does seem to become very protective when it comes to the other dogs come in close contact with me.

When I bought Maggie, I was hoping to breed her and earn a profit out of that, but that did not work out to well. With her first two litters, all the puppies died of an unknown cause besides for one. We did decide to keep one of the first ones, which we now call Derbi. Since the whole breeding thing didn’t work out quite as planned, I decided to show her in the fair as one of my 4-H projects. I attempted this for three years, and I won champion in my class and Grand Champion over all!! It was a great experience, and I cannot wait for this year. It will be my last year as a 4-H memeber so I hope to have another successful year with Maggie.

Besides for all the little thinFair 2009gs I bought Maggie for, the main thing is that she is just another member of my family.  I love going outside and sitting on the front yard with her. She, along with the other dogs, are a lot of work. In the end though , the work doesn’t even matter!!

This question comes to me a lot lately. What are you going to do after high school? I can understand why they want to ask, and I honestly don’t mind. I am probably one of the luckier students who actually have an idea about what they are going to do after high school.

Ever since I was little, I wanted to be a nurse. Many members of my family are or have worked as nurses. Two of my aunts are nurses right now. My aunt Lisa works at Crowne Point in Sioux Center, and my aunt Brenda works as a Labor and Delivery nurse at St. Lukes. My other aunt, Kathie, worked as a nurse at Sioux Valley, but is now a stay-at-home mom in Wisconsin. I would say my family has made a huge impact on my decision for my future.

I plan on going tnurse20stick201o Dordt College. I hope to become a Labor and Delivery Nurse after my college years. I have decided on this because I absolutely love babies and making sure everyone is happy and healthy. I think that working as a nurse will be very rewarding. I cannot wait to go to college, it is going to help me become the nurse I hope to become one day.
